Ms Galaxy – Beth Parr, Miss Galaxy – Joanna Johnson, Junior Miss Galaxy – May Parry, and Director of the UK Galaxy Pageants – Holly Pirrie, made a special visit to The Christie to see what all of our finalists fundraising efforts contribute towards!

Here’s what Holly had to say about their visit:

‘Over £266,000 … that’s how much United Kingdom Galaxy Pageants & Pageant Girl have raised for The Christie since 2014! That’s over a QUARTER OF A MILLION POUNDS! I am beyond grateful for every finalist that has fundraised to contribute to this.

Yesterday, I had the honour of having a tour of The Christie with our fabulous Galaxy International queenies from the UK; Joanna Johnson, Beth Parr & May Parry and Danielle, our fundraising manager.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Danielle took us around the INCREDIBLE premises & I am so proud that our events support this charity. It was amazing to see where the money goes.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What we all took away from our visit was how much this was a place of HOPE – you could feel it in the atmosphere and by sharing the different stories of patients. The Christie gives the seriously ill and avenue of hope, comfort & treatment.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whilst The Christie is based in Manchester, they treat patients from all over the UK & if you need treatment that they offer, they make sure you get this service & you can get referred directly… it is not something that is only for people in the local area. They have the UK’s first Proton Beam Therapy Unit & they have been treating patients here since November 2018, we were super proud to support this with our fundraising. The funds that our girls have raised has also gone towards the new outpatients department & the Proton Beam Research Unit… at the moment, our fundraising is supporting the development of improved CT equipment.’

What a wonderful day, thank you to Danielle and the amazing team at The Christie for taking the time to show them around!
