Joanna Johnson had such an incredible time at Galaxy Internationals in Orlando where she won the international Miss Galaxy crown! Here’s what Joanna had to say about her experience!
What’s your highlight from galaxy internationals?
This is definitely the moment I was crowned Miss Galaxy 2019, I had been working towards this moment for the past two years and at one point I didn’t think it would ever happen but I never gave up and with hard work and determination I achieved my dream. It still hasn’t sunk in yet, I must watch my crowning moment back at least twice a day just to tell myself this is real!
Favourite outfit from your galaxy wardrobe
This is going to be a hard one because I had a lot of different outfits because I had at least two spare for most events, haha! The girls can vouch that I LOVE buying clothes hahah! I loved all my outfits so much but I just have to go with my Mac Duggal couture evening gown, I have had this gown since 2015 which I bought from The Dress Studio and have worn it more than once but it’s my favourite gown ever and it has won me best in evening wear twice, you don’t always need to buy new, if you love it, wear it! 😀
Name something you packed in your pageant suitcase that you couldn’t have lived without
Actually this isn’t something I packed myself, the night before Orientation I curled and pinned my hair using my GHD curve which I always use on myself, I slept in the pin curls and took them out the next morning and my hair didn’t agree with the humidity at all, it dropped out pretty much straight away and lost ALL the volume 🙁 LUCKILY my roomie Miss Teen Galaxy Scotland had her wand with her so I used it the next time I needed to curl my hair and it was PERFECT, so if it wasn’t for Jazmine and her magic wand I don’t know what I would have done. Thank you Jazmine, you saved me, I think I actually used it more than her, haha!
What was the funniest or most memorable moment of the week?
Well, there were many moments over the week that were just hilarious and memorable, i’m struggling to pick just one that I can publicly share with you all so I’ll keep it brief hahaha. The most memorable moment is probably all the bonding with my sister queens and getting to know them all a lot more, one of the nights we got together to discuss the pj party in one of our rooms and we had such a laugh together and I will never forget it, I love them all to pieces and I am so glad I got to share my experience with them.
What advice would you give to girls thinking about entering the UK Galaxy Pageants?
I would say 100% go for it, you will not regret a second! I can not recommend Galaxy more, Holly and all the pageant girl team are such amazing people that are there for you every step of the way. To top it off if you are lucky enough to win you get to go have the week of your life in Orlando at the international finals making friends and memories of a lifetime.
Galaxy accepts and supports all different types of women so don’t let anything get in your way if it’s what you really want.
